A good jersey or hoodie should last for seasons. Simple care habits protect the colours, the fabric and the print so your kit still looks sharp after dozens of washes.
Before washing
Check the care label first. Empty pockets, close zips and turn the garment inside out so the printed surface does not rub against other clothes.
Washing
- Use cool or lukewarm water, around 30 degrees.
- Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach and strong stain removers.
- Wash similar colours together, and keep dark and bright kits apart for the first few washes.
- Choose a gentle cycle and avoid overloading the machine.
Drying
Air-dry in the shade whenever you can. Heat from a hot dryer or direct midday sun can weaken elastic, stress seams and dull colours over time. Sublimated prints are very durable, but gentle drying keeps the fabric in shape.
Ironing
Most sportswear does not need ironing. If you must, turn the garment inside out, use a low heat setting and never iron directly on printed areas.
Hoodies and sweatshirts
Fleece can pill if it is rubbed against rough items. Wash inside out, avoid towels and jeans in the same load and brush off lint when dry. Hang or fold hoodies instead of stretching the hood on a hanger.
Storage
Store garments clean and fully dry. Fold in a drawer or hang jerseys on wide hangers. Keep them away from damp places.
Stains
Treat stains early with cold water and a drop of mild soap. Avoid scrubbing hard, which can damage the fibres.
